At odd times, get a message in black which covers about a third of the screen which (with quite a few words) says to shut down or restart. Everything is dead and must power off with button. Have erased and replaced from clone, tried reinstalling system from CD, checked it with Techtool and first aid, replaced dying battery. Better since replaced battery. But still happens.
Anyone run into this. Never heard of it. I keep meaning to photograph it with my phone when it occurs so I can let a Genius look at it. |

It sounds like a kernel panic. Is the problem repeatable at all?
Instead of erasing and replacing from clone, you might try starting from scratch and reinstalling the OS. Or, go to the Apple Store and consult with a genius.
Another option is bring it to the next HAAUG Meeting and see if someone can dig into your logs and find a consistent cause. |
